Fri, 9 February 2007 One on five students in America has used an inhalant to get high by the time he or she reaches the eighth grade. Parents don't know that inhalants, cheap, legal and accessible products, are as popular among middle school students as marijuana. Even fewer know the deadly effects the poisons in these products have on the brain and body when they are inhaled or "huffed." Today's podcast is an interview with Harvey Weiss, Executive Director of the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition. The NIPC serves serves as an inhalant referral and information clearinghouse, stimulates media coverage about inhalant issues, develops informational materials, produces ViewPoint (a quarterly newsletter), provides training and technical assistance and leads a week-long national grassroots inhalant education and awareness campaign. This is a podcast of Jeffrey S. Wolfsberg and Associates, Inc. To comment on the show or suggest future topics, call our listener line at (206) 203-1706.
